Pottery has to be the most relaxing art form there is. Creating art that can function as someone's daily tableware is just an added bonus. We love doing our jobs, but put in many long hard hours to provide the quality products that you see in our gallery. Every piece is carefully created, sanded, dried, fired in the kiln, painted with glazes, and re-fired in the kiln. After the second firing, we open the kiln like it is Christmas each and every time.

Pottery is an art and a science. You can make everything the exact same; same clay, same glaze, same firing, and in the end you still get a totally different product. Have I mentioned the fact that less than half of all our pottery produced is saleable? What do we do with the rest of it? Well, we throw it in the trash. I must admit, when we first started out in pottery we kept everything. The pieces not perfect enough to sell were kept around the house. One day one of our fellow potters said, "You can't make art, when you have less than perfect pottery around the house." So, all of the chipped, cracked, and other mishaps immediately went into the trash. We have never looked back.

One of the questions we are asked most frequently is, "Where can I take a pottery class?" Your local recreation department probably offers pottery classes. That's a great place to start. If you don't have one of these where you live, try out a community college or university. I hope you have found this information helpful.
